What’s in a name? Part 3
From Frank: Previously, Paul wrote about their name here and here. Now, they’re discussing something a bit different, but also fundamental: The Law of Attraction.
We do like, from time to time, to stir the pot a bit and suggest something that might not have been considered before. Besides it being a whole heck of a lot of fun to be in the midst of adjusting attitudes and cascading “a-ha” moments, we also like pushing out onto the edge of the leading edge and seeing where that takes us.
So, in that light, we’re going to suggest that it might be time to come up with a different name for the concept that is often referred to as the Law of Attraction.
Now, you may say to us that there is no need to do. Everyone understands what this means when Law of Attraction is used in everyday conversation. And these things may be true. But we would like to see what happens when we throw out some of our ideas on this matter.
First, we want to emphasize that there is no law here. The reason we say this is so that it can be clear that you can’t break this Law of Attraction. Nor, if you could, would you be punished for doing so.
So, one way to shift things around a bit might be to call it The Immutable Law of Attraction. This would indicate that it can’t be changed. And we like that, because it’s true, at least from our perspective.
And that’s where our second point comes to bear. The Law of Attraction applies to all things, including the Law of Attraction, or at least your perception of this so-called Law. An easy way to understand this is to point out that, if you believe it’s easy to understand the Law of Attraction, then you will easily understand it and the ease by which you see it in application and connect the dots of your own experience will continue to expand and expand until you take another thought on the subject. Likewise, if you believe that it’s difficult to understand the Law of Attraction, you will steadily encounter the concept to be mysterious and difficult to comprehend and full of subtle nuances that are constantly revealing themselves to you, but only after steady and determined study.
So, if your perception of the Law of Attraction determines how you understand Law of Attraction, which in itself is a proof of Law of Attraction, then what’s the fuss, you might ask?
Well, from our perspective, it really lies in the word “Attraction.” We just don’t think this really does justice to what is happening. “Like attracts like” is often used as a shortcut to explain this so-called Law, and that confuses matters even more.
Now, if you said, “like thoughts draw unto themselves more like thoughts in an ever-evolving pattern,” we think you’d be on to it there.
And what about feelings? Are we not always talking about how it’s the marriage of the thought or the idea (the frame) and the feeling (the content) coming together that creates? Yes, that is indeed the case. And, to speak of a thought is to also speak of a feeling, because every thought has a vibrational quality and you experience these vibrations as feelings.
And now… vibrations. What are these? Well, vibrations are like a silent language that is shared among all aspects of All-That-Is. Vibration is how every thought relates to every other thought. And thoughts are the basic building blocks of All-That-Is, which includes everything you know of and everything you don’t know of.
So, thoughts have vibrations. And all thoughts evolve. You feel those vibrations emotionally. That’s how you know where you are in relationship to everything else because you too are a thought that is evolving.
What’s really going on here? Is it that thoughts are only attracted to other thoughts that are like them? Well, if you really think about this from a metaphysical perspective, you might begin to wonder. How could All-That-Is, Source Energy know about the aspects of Itself that are so contracted away from It? If this Law of Attraction is immutable, wouldn’t that mean that no one could ever think a thought that is separate from something else?
And don’t we talk a whole heck of a lot about the thought of separation is what brings you into physical focus? In other words, the reason You gave birth to the idea of you is because of that belief in separation. And Source knows this. And wants this. Because this belief in separation is what is fueling evolution. Which is why we say that it’s a good thing to get knocked out of your Vortex, so you can experience yourself as separate from Your Self and want to get back in again. In fact, being born is a little bit like being knocked out of your Vortex, if you really think about it.
Whew!
We’ve laid out a whole heck of a lot of things on the table to consider. Now, we could be really tricky and be trying to overwhelm you with so much information that in the end you will just throw up your hands and say, “OK, Paul, I’ll call this whatever you want, just as long as you stop talking about thoughts and vibrations and evolution and all this…”
Well, that is not our intention but we could easily understand why anyone would feel this way.
We have a proposal. And it’s just a proposal, a suggestion, really. We are not here to command from on high. We are your brothers and your sisters and we are completely in love with you and are making this proposal from the perspective that it will simplify matters and bring clarity to the subject. We actually know nothing of language — all that you are reading has been translated from our vibration. So, it’s up to you to decide what you want to create from here, if anything.
Universal Mechanics
This is the phrase we propose.
Universal — The concept applies to everything, everywhere, without exception.
Mechanics — The concept is mechanical in nature. It works regardless of context. It doesn’t care what you are thinking, it just brings you more thoughts that are alignment with the vibration of what you’ve been thinking.
Now, what we love so much about this place where you are reading is that we can interact with you. So we invite your exchange of ideas. Perhaps we are on the wrong track altogether. Perhaps we have hit some sort of nerve. Perhaps there is more to explore. Regardless, we look forward to our conversations with you on this topic.

Definitions, Part 2
From Frank: This is the second in a multi-part series of posts where Paul gives us some definitions of terms. If you want some specific terms defined, be sure to list them in the comments or post them on the COL Facebook page here.
Light
Light is a term that we use to describe All-That-Is or Source.
Light is simply who we all are. And by “we”, we mean you, us, all that you know of, and all that you don’t know of.
Light, as you know it, seems to be emanating from your sun, a star around which your planet revolves. And, on a physical level, this is obviously the case. Your physical eyes and your brain are able to discern pieces and parts of this light, within a narrow band of the total spectrum of light. Because of this ability, you can use your body and its eyes to navigate the physical plane and see the difference between one object and another. We think that’s quite nice.
But, if, for a moment, you were to take off your physical blinders (for that is what your eyes and brain are), you would not be able to discern, visually, between any two objects. They would all appear the same to you. You would see Oneness, All-That-Is, Source.
And, this might be very intellectually interesting to you and it might also bring you some relief to know that this is possible. But, from your physical experience, this is not very helpful.
If everything looked the same and if everything were the same, then what is the point of your physicality? And that’s the whole point. You are Light. You can’t help but be Light. You are Source. You are All-That-Is. And you came here, in physical form, to the idea of separation (like the difference between red and violet in the visible spectrum of light) in order to experience yourself looking back at YourSelf.
Relax
Relax is a verb that we use to suggest that you might want to cut yourself some slack and allow the Universe to do the heavy lifting.
You didn’t come here to get real good at doing things. You came here to enjoy the physical deliciousness of it all. You have been trained to do this and to do that and to measure your worth by your doingness. And, yes, your doingness is quite interesting and quite lovely and you probably have many wonderful positive aspects about that part of your experience.
But your doingness does not measure you. It does not define you. And it can never contain you.
So, we suggest that you relax and allow. As you relax and realize that all is well, right where you are, you give yourself the opportunity to experience the very deliciousness of each moment.
And, we think you will be quite delighted to experience yourself as a brilliant allower, as a delicious relaxer, and as an excellent receiver.
Observe
When you observe, what you are doing is becoming aware of your creations and no longer identifying them as you.
For example, you can observe that you have a body but that you are not your body. One very clear way to do this is to notice that when a body dies, the idea of the person who inhabited that body moves on. You can still interact with that person and have lovely conversations with them, even though you are not connecting with their body in any way.
When you observe something, you are giving yourself a bit of space between who you are, in reality, and what you have created. You observe your creations while you feel who you are. You observe what you have while you know who you are.
When you observe someone, you are noticing them as another lovely being of Light who is blending reality with you and nothing more. They are not attacking you nor are they defending themselves from you. They are simply doing what all who are focused in physical reality do: they are reaching for relief from where they are in the best way they know how.
And when you realize that this is all that you are observing, you really allow something else to come in to play. And that something else is the Universe coming in and sorting things out for you so that you, and what you are observing, can have the very best experience you will both allow. And we think that is a very good thing indeed.
Definitions, Part 1

Vortex
A vortex is simply the energetic relationship between any two points of consciousness.
You hear us say, again and again, how delicious it is to be in Your Vortex and by that we mean getting into the vortex of your relationship between you (the idea of you) and You (your inner being or Higher Self). The reason for this is that is where you are connected to your Source in a way that is obvious and clear and that you can clearly recognize.
You are never disconnected from your Source, but turning your attention to Your Vortex means that you are now intentionally cultivating and bringing attention to that relationship. And, as any of you who have ever intentionally spent time in Your Vortex can quite easily attest to, this is a very, very delicious thing indeed.
There are many ways to get into Your Vortex and we have suggested one ourselves. But the main way that you get there is by intending to do so, as with anything else.
And, as with anything else, you have a vibrational experience of how that happens. So, you can slip in easily. You can jump in and dive right into the middle. You can sidle in, one step at a time, moving in at a pace that feels comfortable.
It doesn’t matter how you get in, once you’re in you know it. And it can be as easy as you are willing to allow it to be.
Intention
Intention is simply the decision for what you are wanting and some realization, however small it may be, that there is the possibility you can have it.
When you apply intention to anything, you are bringing your focus to it and you are allowing yourself the opportunity to declare, “This thing that I am wanting will be in my experience.” How long it takes depends completely on how willing you are to line up with the inevitability of the thing coming into being. And this can refer to anything at all that you can conceive of.
Essentially, your intention is how you turn your focus to the vortex that exists between you and the idea of what you are wanting.
Now, let us be clear: The very minute that you conceive of anything, it immediately exists in a vibrational reality (what our friends Abraham will refer to as “your vibrational escrow”). For it to be meaningful to you, however, from your physical perspective, some sort of lining up with the physical manifestation of your desire, of your wanted thing (be it a relationship, a quality, an object, a thought, a feeling, or an experience), is required. You must either allow it to come into being or desire it to come into being. In both instances, the inevitability of its manifestation trumps any resistance you may have as to the questions of how, when, where, by whom, and what is required.
Relief
Relief is a very good word that just indicates passing from one more contracted vibration to one more expansive vibration.
When we say to you, “find the thought that in its thinking, the word that in its speaking, the action that in its doing brings you relief,” what we are saying is that there is some forward action or motion for you that does feel better than where you are. You may be able to identify what the improved vibration feels like (anger, irritation, boredom, hope, joy) but, even if you cannot name that feeling (which is never that important), you always know that this improved vibration feels like relief from the contracted state you were in.
Often times, the trick with understanding the importance of relief lies in realizing that it is not a big, huge swing from, say, depression to joy. You move progressively from one vibrational state to the next, similar to walking along a path where you place one foot in front of another and, before you know it, you have arrived at where you wanted to go from where you were.
Now, an obvious question might be: “why is relief so important?” And our answer to this is simple. Contracting vibrations do not feel good because your inner being, your Higher Self, is giving you a clear indication that you are moving away from your Source. Your Source is always at the top of what our friends Abraham have called your “Emotional Guidance Scale.” We do love that they have laid out a step-by-step progression of possible feelings attached to improved vibration. But we do want you to know that not everyone’s scale will look the same. And so, you can always rely on the simple feeling of relief to indicate that you have moved up in the way you intended to do.
Another good question might be: “what does relief feel like?” And we can’t really answer this question directly. Just as we can’t really tell you what joy or irritation feel like. To a certain extent, you know what different feelings (as they have been named) feel like to you because of your observation of others and your ability to share their feeling-states as they described the name of that particular emotion. But, if we were to really try to describe what relief feels like, we might say that it’s like taking off a shoe that is a size too small after a long day of standing. As we say, it’s an improvement in your vibration. And all you need do is pay attention to what happens when you start to feel better on any subject and you will find relief in all sorts of places.
